On the Dröpkeweg 2-12 building site in the Berlin district of Neukölln, a student residence with 105 places is being built in modular construction. Completion is planned for the fourth quarter of 2022.
During a project visit on 17 October 2022, Federal Minister of Construction Klara Geywitz and Ingeborg Esser, Chief Executive of the German Housing Association (GdW), were convinced of the advantages of serial and modular construction at the project site.
Modular buildings are conquering the market ever faster. Using our project as an example, Federal Minister of Construction Klara Geywitz explains the opportunities that serial and modular construction offers to the industry.
“We are pleased to be able to realise this pilot project in serial construction together with the Austrian GdW framework contract partner Lukas Lang Building Technologies GmbH. The high proportion of wood of up to 70 percent in the supporting structure, shell and interior fittings creates a pleasant living space with consistent quality and a high level of comfort. The structural concept is deliberately designed to be flexible, so as to guarantee the adaptability of the buildings. For example, if necessary, the exterior façades can be adapted to the changing townscape over time. In addition, the supporting structure, the non-load-bearing interior walls as well as the façade are reusable” – Alf Aleithe, managing director of the municipal Berlinovo Immobilien Gesellschaft mbH.
