Centre for Knowledge and Technology Transfer II, GRAZ

The future building of the ZWT (Centre for Knowledge and Technology Transfer) 2 takes over essential elements from its two neighbours the LKH University Hospital Graz and MED CAMPUS. At the same time, however, its materiality creates a clear contrast with its surroundings. The three-dimensional shading elements of the hospital pavilions will be further developed and MED CAMPUS will continue the strict, fine-particle façade grid in an adapted form. The basic structure is an in-situ concrete framework in a light, warm grey, whose rough surface contrasts with the smoothness of the MED CAMPUS. The area between IKM (IKM Institute for Hospital Hygiene and Microbiology) and ZWT 2 becomes a shared space and meeting point for users. This is also where the lift is located, which provides access to the upper levels of the MED CAMPUS. In addition, the supply and waste disposal for both buildings is carried out here. The intensively greened roof of ZWT 2 will be used as a retention area.
