The Oesterreichische Nationalbank operates a money museum at its location in Vienna, which presents special exhibitions that change annually in addition to its permanent exhibition. Together with Holzer Kobler Architekturen GmbH, WGA ZT GmbH is responsible for the services in the area of exhibition design and production as well as graphics.
The first exhibition entitled “FUNNY MONEY. Geld in der Karikatur” (Money in Caricature) opened on 11 August 2020 and presented caricatures and cartoons by national and international artists who depicted the topics of “money-currency-economy” in a satirical, critical and humorous way. Due to the Corona situation, this exhibition ran for two years instead of one as originally planned.
On 19 July this year, the second special exhibition entitled “EURO CASH-20 Jahre EURO-Banknoten und Euro-Münzen” (EURO CASH-20 Years of EURO Banknotes and Euro Coins) could be opened. The exhibition deals with the Euro as a desirable collector’s item, the technical aspects surrounding the production of our cash and shows designs for Euro banknotes and coins that were never realised. Once again, the design team has come up with a concept for the existing showcases in terms of design and furnishings as well as the catalogue and folder. Visitors can also look forward to an interactive area.
