As we are committed to supporting young students, we are pleased to sponsor the “Das Halbe Leben” exhibition at the Vienna University of Technology.
This exhibition focuses on the critical examination and observation of the spatial, social and theoretical context of work. The exhibition explores how we can integrate work into our cities now and in the future.
Students look at utopian visionaries, analyse the paternalism of large corporations, garden cities and company towns. They also examine de-industrialisation, neo-liberalism and new trends such as ‘new work’ and the impact of digitalisation. The housing typologies of workers’ estates are also questioned, as are contemporary implementations of the 15-minute city.
The aim of the exhibition is to explore the complex relationship between the city and the labour market, and to focus on the productive city of the 21st century.
We will take a critical approach to the different dynamics of work and the city.
The exhibition presents the results of a course organised and supervised by University Professor Dipl.-Ing. Ute Schneider, University Assistant Dipl.-Ing. Dorothee Huber and University Lecturer Dipl.-Arch.in Karoline Mayer.
There will be a project presentation and exhibition opening on 9 March 2024 at 18:30 in the Festsaal und Bezirksmuseum Simmering, Enkplatz 2, 1110 Vienna. The exhibition can be visited there until 26 April 2024.
Admission is free and we look forward to seeing you there.
