The topping-out ceremony for the University of Augsburg construction project took place in bright sunshine on 29.04.2024. The shell for the new three-storey research building and the two-storey laboratory building was built on the former parking lot between the physics building and the innovation park. Thanks to the modular construction method, the building was completed in a short time so the the topping-out ceremony was celebrated just a few weeks after. The Bavarian State Minister for Housing, Construction and Transport, Christian Bernreiter, the President of the University of Augsburg, Prof. Dr. Sabine Doering-Manteuffe, representatives of ALHO Systembau GmbH, RWT PLUS ZT GmbH and LeitWerk AG as well as many other project participants accepted the invitation and gathered on the construction site.
In the ceremonial speeches, words of thanks were addressed to all those involved and the rapid, sustainable and climate-friendly construction of the new research building was emphasized. After the traditional topping-out speech, the topping-out crown was raised to the accompaniment of music and afterwards lively discussions over food and drink brought the celebration to a cheerful close.
