We are looking forward to the opening of the “Wiener Pixel” event at the Institute for Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture and Design. WGA ZT GmbH is the main sponsor. Getting the support of dedicated students of architecture is something that Harald Oissner, architect and managing partner of WGA ZT GmbH, finds particularly important.

A selection of student works created over the last six years as part of the “Urban planning and fundamentals of landscape architecture studio” course will be on display. Viennese pixels are 1×1 km sections of the city that the students have studied intensively in the course of a semester. This has resulted in a variety of urban visions and designs for alternative forms of urban living. There are now more than 100 pixels, which show a different image of Vienna between utopia and everyday life.
The projects on show are in the form of drawings, diagrams and models in a labyrinth made of construction fences. In the integrated city lab, students and teachers from this year’s studio will be working on initial ideas for 10 new pixels on site in parallel in accompanying workshops during the exhibition with a collective mapping exercise. To build on this, the students will then deepen and elaborate their visions for the further development of Vienna.
The exhibition is intended to be a space where students, architects, planners and interested visitors can discuss ideas and experiment so as to stimulate a creative exchange of knowledge. The aim is to bring current and future ideas for the city of Vienna closer to the urban population and enable reflection and discussion together on site.
We look forward to a wide-ranging and open discussion on the current urban planning issues affecting the city of Vienna and its metropolitan region.
